universal shipping box is a visual art and cultural exchange project between Manchester, Berlin and Buenos Aires, involving 5 artist-led arts organisations and 13 artists. The idea of the exchange is to connect contemporary artists and curators from Europe and South America to share fresh ideas and open up new possibilities for networking and future projects between the two continents.
universal shipping box will exhibit newly commissioned work from 13 artists. All works made for the exhibition will fit into a universally sized ‘pizza’ flat box for shipping, 312mm x 312mm x 40mm, and will explore the question of how the concept of the universal can be interpreted in the 21st century across the globe. In addition in each country there will be a series of talks, studio visits and networking events to strengthen the links and develop ideas for future exchanges.
twenty+3 projects, directed by Heidi Schaefer is a contemporary art space in the converted front room of Heidi terraced house in Manchester, UK. It is an international space for exhibitions, discussions and residencies connecting artists from different parts of the world and Manchester.
Red Nomade, directed by Cristina Ghetti and Andrea Racciatti is an international cooperation project interested in the exchange of contemporary artists and intellectuals. The collective aim is to generate artistic, cultural and academic events in different cities in order to facilitate the meeting of visual artists, art critics, curators, writers and intellectuals.
black duck, directed by Ima Picó, is an organisation based in Manchester that undertakes international curatorial projects to promote the work of contemporary artists working in performance, installation, digital media and video.
Jardin Luminoso begins when Veronica Malenky, Lucila Malenky and Ariel Villareal get together to create luminic art. The gallery opens in 2006 in the neigbourhood of Palermo, Buenos Aires, gathering renowned artists and young talents. The goal is to offer a wider view of art, by means of dynamic and thematic exhibitions, and creating links in the world of national and international art.
